2. Staff, Funding and Facilities

2.1 Staff

At the end of 1998 the following staff positions were available:

During 1998 the following positions were funded by grants raised externally by staff members of the institute.

In addition 10 long-term scientific positions were funded by the resources of the BGI Visiting Scientists' Program (see Sect. 5) which also supported short-term visits for discussing future projects or presenting research results (see Sect. 4.6). 5 scientists were funded by personal grants (stipends).
