in experimental geosciences. Bayerisches Geoinstitut is a leading institution for research in Earth and planetary sciences using high-pressure experimental techniques. Current research activities are directed towards understanding the internal structure, dynamics and evolution of the Earth and of the terrestrial planets. The successful applicant is expected to carry out independent research in mineral physics, petrology, high-temperature geochemistry, volcanology, ore deposits, or related fields. Participation in the management of laboratories, teaching, and acquisition of external funding is expected.


The position will initially be filled for three years, with a possible extension by another three years. Afterwards, depending on performance, the position may become permanent. A formal requirement for application is a Ph. D. in Earth sciences or a related field and a good research record as demonstrated by publications in international journals. Applications should include a CV, publication list, copies of university certificates, a short (2 page) statement of research interest, and the contact details of three referees.
